DSDN 104: First 15 models

First 15 models that I did on 3DS Max

DSDN 104: First model from Solidworks

This is my first model that I've done on Solidworks, I got the shapes and the outlines that I believe it will go with my theme from my precedent images.

DSDN 112: week 2

Today we had to bring in two objects, one for functional and the other fun or interesting to use. For function I brought a bike pedal like the one you see in the image below. The bike pedal is one of the important parts of the bike, without it you can't ride it. I choose it because looking at the pedal where your foot goes, it looks real grippy because of the square pins and the groove, that's like the main part that will attract people and its got a nice shape to it along with the cut outs that gives it a clean look.

For fun and interesting I brought a spinning top eraser like the on in the image but except my one was blue not purple. The eraser have a interesting look to it but also it has a smell to it as well, it's one of those smelly erasers and I think it's suppose to smell like berry but I'm not to sure. This is different to a normal eraser because with this one, when you look at it, you just want to spin it and play with it because it's a shape of a spinning top and the colour attracts your eye along with the berry smell as well.

DSDN 104: Rough sketches

Here is just a few rough sketches of some models that I did, just so it can give me an idea for my iterations

DSDN 104: Precedent images

The copper/brown colour in this image attract me because those colours can describe chaotic well along with the black and white twisting/spiral shapes.

This abstract image here almost looks like flames, the shape of flames can give me ideas for the shapes on my model.
I got an image of this ocean wave, since the noun that I'm using is 'wave'. I like how the shape of a wave is this massive arc, by looking at it, it makes it look so hectic that you don't want to go near it.

This image sort of reminds me of the body armor from the Predator or his weapons because of the grey coloured sharped edge shapes. There's a lot of  curve/twisting in this image which is cool, along with the colours that creates harmony.
Quite like the lighting that's shining through this abstract image which makes it stand out more and the shapes all look like they are twisted together which makes it look like some sort of hard out robot or machine.

DSDN 104: Words

For my models I'm trying to show a choatic theme that shows some intensity and violence, I believe the three words that I've choose can express my theme.

Wave(Noun)- something that suggests the form and motion of a wave in the sea, especially: a moving curve or succession of curves in or on a surface. A movement up and down or back and forth.

Swirl(Verb)- moving in a twist or spiral pattern like an eddy, arranged in a spiral, whorl or twist.

Abstract(Adjective)- expressing a quality or characteristic apart from any specific object or instance, as justice poverty, and speed. Also refer to as a thought of apart from concrete realities, specific objects or actual instances: an abstract idea.

DSDN 142: Complicated shape

This was a complicated shape that I made on the first day that I was using Processing

DSDN 142: First day using Processing

This was my first time using Processing and I just made a simple little square.

DSDN 104: Images for ideas

I was thinking about doing my models that shows peacefulness, so I got a few images of the ocean waves and they might give me an idea on what to do.

Here is a picture of some flax, nature can also relate back to peacefulness and this can be another idea for my models.

DSDN 104: Solidworks tutorial

This is an image of the object in progress

I did a tutorial on Solidworks just so I can get the hang of using the program better for my project and this is the object they taught us to make on there. I don't think I did the base of this object right but it still looks similar though so I just left it there.

DSDN 112: Interesting object

Today for DSDN 112 tutorial we had to bring in some interesting objects to share and talk about. The object I brought in was a bike spoke key like the one in the image here. It's a tool that you use to tighten or loosen the spokes on your bike, as you can see there are heaps of sizes on this spoke key because some bike spoke nipples come in different sizes. On the side of the spoke key there's a groove that's been machined on for your fingers to grip on the key when you are using the tool. On the other side of the spoke key it just have a bunch of numbers telling you the sizing for the spoke nipple. This is a tool that I always carry around with me because my hobby is biking and I snap quite a lot of spokes or buckle my wheel so I use it a lot. What I like about this object is how it's designed like making it a circle shape and have the groove on the side so it makes it easy to use. If they made it a square shape instead of this circle shape, it won't feel as good on the hand when using it because of the edges, so that's why I like this circle shape.

DSDN 104: First day sketches

This is one of my sketches that I did on the first day of DSDN 104, we got given some verbs and nouns, and we had to do a sketch that describes those words. So for one of the nouns that we got given, I picked Ladder, the picture that looks like a spinning top with skinny rectangles is the sketch that describes it. The rectangle shapes start of real short, then they get longer and longer as they get higher. What I'm trying to show is that, when you are climbing a ladder, you will feel safe at the bottom of course but for every step you take to climb, it gets scarier and scarier, so the rectangle shapes length shows the fear in the human body.

For the verbs I picked jump, as you can see in the second picture there are five rectangle shapes and they start off with a light colour, then they get darker and darker. The colour of the rectangle shapes are suppose to show the impact that you create when you jump from one place to another. Like when you start of you have hardly any impact but when you start jumping from place to place you will create more and more impact on your feet.

We had to do a sketch for a word of our own, so I've choose a verb which is explode. as you can see in the sketch there's like a ball shape that's I've sketched in the middle and that is suppose to show the bit before an explosion and it was safe. The lines that are all over the page is to show the dangerous part of an explosion. Because an explosion is quite big, I made the lines to take up the whole page and also to show how dangerous an explosion is.

DSDN 142: Open Process

I've picked this animation off Open process because I think it's amzing what they have done, like for the mouse point they have used a picture of Batman instead of just that arrow. They have superman flying horizontal across the screen, it repeats over and over again as he flys out of the screen. If you left click on your mouse it will change to a different screen with the superman symbol and some words, as you can see in one of the pictures. There are a lot more other work that I still haven't looked at on Open process but this was the one that catch my eye because it had a picture of Superman on the front page cover and I think it's real cool what they have done so I decide to post this one.

DSDN 142: First day for Creative coding

Today on the first day for Creative coding we had to pick an object that we have, then we had to write out instructions on how to draw the object that we've picked. After we have done the instructions we gave it to the person next to us and see if they can draw the object out by following the instructions. The person that I gave my instructions to didn't manage to draw the object that I've choose because my instructions weren't clear enough.
