Quote from Alfred Lord Tennyson “All experience is an arch wherethrough gleams that untravelled world
whose margin fades for ever and for ever when I move”.
Wave forms of this object which are made of vellum
material act as the archways, the arches create fluidity by how the arches hold
each other together and up. ‘Untraveled world whose margin fades for ever and
for ever when I move’ represents the senses of the perspectives that can be
achieved by looking at this object on different angles. Looking at the model on
the straight angle you can see the arches being white, but if you take a photograph
looking through those arches, all you see is darkness as you can see in one of
the photos of this model. Darkness of the arches produces contrast with the alternative white arches, therefore it constructs new curves for the viewers.
Performing arts centre |
Precedent image ‘Performing arts centre’ designed by Zaha Hadid was a
strong influence on the overall production of this model, by the idea of the
curves on this building especially the arch at the top encouraged the designer to use
vellum material to create arches to capture the continuing curves.
Bauhaus |
Bauhaus influenced straight line. Bauhaus designs represents geometric straights lines; therefore there's no fluidity look to it at all. The geometric straight line that’s made of copper wire which holds the arches together for the model presents time, and time is essentially endless, therefore the archways for the model will be endless.
